Back to the Grind

After a day off for Father’s Day, it was back to work today. Having driven more than 1720 miles in the last week, and with more than 13 hours in the car on Saturday alone, I really wasn’t ready to get back to the grind. As luck would have it, I started the day with my first appointment at 7:15 this morning and didn’t stop until about 9:30 this evening. It was a loooooong day – let alone how long it seemed as tired as I was from all the travel last week.

The next two days I am with a team whose members have come into Carmel from around the country. I am already getting energized thinking about working with the 7 people who will be spending time with me. I guess you can say it is “work”, but I really relish the time I get to interact with all these directors of a client company of mine.

Although I am starting to cut down a little on the travel and number of days away from home, my commitment to work and to provide unparalleled value are still the same. And I work with so many companies that sometimes it is difficult to sort out all the people I engage with. Today alone, I worked with four different clients, but in the end, it’s not the various clients I work for – it’s God. That’s right.

Sometimes I have to keep this in mind. It’s just too easy to let your guard down and settle for a standard that is more human than divine. And that’s not what the Lord wants from us. He wants us to make sure that we continue to work on behalf of His people and this desire is reflected in the Scriptures. Since I’m on early again in the morning, it’s best that I sign off and get some rest – so… The verse for tonight is from Heb. 6:10, “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” My encouragement this evening is that you also work for the Lord – and part of the that responsibility is that you should show love to all those you help. My prayer is that  God will bless your effort and that you will show the love of Christ to those whose lives you impact. Have a great day in the Lord, grace and peace…
