Rest…

By January 22, 2014August 30th, 2022Devotional

Today was the first day of the two day move. And quite honestly, I am more tired than I thought humanly possible. We’ve had 5 men here since 8:30 this morning and while it is evident that they have done quite a bit of work, there is at least as much more to do tomorrow. Our friend Pat and I stayed here at the house supervising things while Janet got the dogs out of the way and was able to get some things accomplished at Andrew’s house.

I think it must have been a gift from God that we didn’t remember how horrible moves are. You think you have done the preparation to move on and then, in a moment, you see that you have acquired more stuff than you ever imagined. It really drives the point home when the stalls in the garage are stacked to the ceiling and they can’t put another box out there. It kind of makes me wonder what all we collected over the years. Certainly, we don’t need all that stuff. But for the sake of getting out of here, we are having it all packed and then we will sort it on the other side. I just hope that we don’t jazz up the new place with all kinds of stuff we don’t care about. Goodwill is about to get a huge donation!

And tired! I can’t remember being this tired. I just can’t do another thing tonight. So rather than ramble on, I want to get to the verse of the evening. You can probably figure out that all I want right now is rest. So, here you go – from Ex. 33:14, “The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” My encouragement this evening is that God wants us to work hard, but also to rest appropriately. My prayer is that you will take care of yourself and make sure that you honor God with rest – there is nothing quite like divine rest. Aside from that, even He rested on the Sabbath and if you read Genesis, you will find that the Sabbath is the first day that God blessed. Have a great day in the Lord, grace and peace…
