Seven Days Without the Word…

By June 25, 2014August 30th, 2022Devotional

…makes you weak… 😉

I heard this saying on the radio earlier this week and had to chuckle to myself. I decided to use it as a post title, but didn’t know whether I should spell it “weak” or “week” – what with the seven day reference and all. But there  is one overriding theme to this evening’s topic – we should be studying the word of God and making Him the center of our lives.

The Scripture is quite clear on this point. And I think most of us know that when we get away from God’s word, it is easy to get caught up in the ways of the world. I know that we go to church at least once, and maybe twice, per week but we are also supposed to study the word of God all our lives. In fact, we are to have verses of Scripture on our lips and even young children are taught weekly Bible verses to increase their knowledge. I remember going to VBS (Vacation Bible School) each summer at the local church several blocks down the street from where we lived. I can still remember verses I learned there, and even some of the songs we used to sing.

The verse for this evening is from Psalm 143:5, “I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.” My encouragement tonight is that God wants to be in relationship with us from our earliest recollections throughout all the days of our lives. My prayer is that you will continue to study and learn from our heavenly Father. After all, you wouldn’t like to get “weak”, would you? Have a great day in the Lord, grace and peace…
