Signed, Sealed, Delivered…

By June 10, 2014August 30th, 2022Devotional

Years ago, there was a song by Stevie Wonder that that included the words “signed, sealed, delivered, I’m yours…” And as I sit here in front of the television this evening, I am watching a new program on the Hallmark channel (probably my favorite channel) called “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”. It has to do with the dead letter file at the post office and how this group of postal employees dedicates their time to making sure the “dead” letters are delivered and that people are re-united.

At first, I thought it was a little light, but it is a “feel good” program that is quite well done and I am always able to multi-task when I am watching it. But the more times I see it, the more I am getting into the character development and I find myself getting engaged in the stories and trying to guess the outcome of each episode. In all honesty, I don’t know that the show will make it, but for now, it is so much like the Hallmark movies I love to watch that I am just enjoying the show week to week.

As you can tell from my recent writings, I have covered a number of topics including Pentecost and many issues related to our relationship with Jesus. In fact, Paul uses some of the same language that Stevie Wonder and the Hallmark people have used. If you have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, you have “signed on” in making Jesus master of your life. That means that you are sealed and belong to God. And by virtue of the fact that that we have an ongoing relationship with Jesus and His Father, we have been delivered to spend eternity with God. That’s pretty important stuff, just as the title suggests – signed, sealed and delivered… It doesn’t get any better than that.

The verse for this evening is from Paul and reminds us of our position with God. The apostle Paul tells us, in 2 Cor. 1:21-22, “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.”And that guarantee? Eternal life…

My encouragement this evening is that God has put his mark on you. Don’t ever doubt that you belong to Him. My prayer is that you will realize the depth and breadth of the love that God has for each of us who belong to Him. Because we have all been signed, sealed and delivered! Have a great day in the Lord, grace and peace…
