Last week-end, I received some information about a decision I have to make regarding our corporate insurance next year. After reviewing the documentation, I had several questions and so I ended up composing an email that I sent to two different people at the agency that represents us in these matters. I asked for a return call on Monday and Monday morning received a short email response that simply said, “I got this…” from one of two folks I contacted.
I kind of chuckled to myself at the brevity of the response and within a minute or two I received another email apologizing for the first email that I received. Apparently, I received a memo that was really intended internally notifying everyone else in the office that Sherri would be handling this for me. She simply wanted her co-workers to know that she had the issue handled. I could tell that Sherri was a little embarrassed about what had happened. Conversely, I was smiling as I let her know that I appreciated the fact that she had taken responsibility for the outcome and that she cared enough to handle this for me.
We shared a good laugh over all this and I once again thanked her for looking out for me. Of course, this reminded me of how Christ looks out for me as well. In fact, Christ paid the ultimate price so that believers throughout the world have a way to get close to God and live eternally with Him. It’s just like Christ turned to God the Father and said, “I got this…”
And you know what? He did and He does have the ultimate answers to take care of us for all eternity. In fact, the Bible has a number of examples where Christ took care of the problem. Remember the story of the one lost sheep? And Christ left the ninety nine He was tending to in an effort to find the one who was lost? And the story about the woman who had limited money and lost one of the few coins that she had. She searched all over and rejoiced when she found the one that had been lost.
Christ is much the same with us. God has entrusted all His people to Jesus and Christ has taken care of them. In fact, the only one who was lost was Judas, the one who betrayed Jesus and sold him for silver prior to His arrest and subsequent crucifixion. In a conversation between God and Jesus, we are told, in John 17:12, “While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.” In other words, Jesus is affirming with God that He has us protected – He’s “got this…” And what a comfort that should be to all of us. To be under the protection of God and to know that Jesus cares so much for us that none of us will be lost.
My encouragement this evening is that Jesus has you covered. There isn’t a problem that God can’t handle. My prayer is that you will put your faith in Jesus and that you will steadfastly cling to Him with all your heart, your mind and your will. After all, He has you covered… Have a great day in the Lord, grace and peace…
